Adaptation to chronic stress and physical exercise

Chronic exposure to stressful life events is associated with cognitive deficit while regular activity and exercise enhance memory. Although these findings suggest that the stress- and exercise-related neurobiological pathways intersect, little is known about the molecular basis of this convergence. We test if stress- and exercise produce bidirectional epigenetic changes in an overlapping network of trans-synaptic adhesion/signaling genes.
